NOAH Fundraising

NOAH's current fundraising goal is to raise $125,000 to support its various client service programming.

Donors can support any of the programs as a whole, or else give a donation to help a needy child or family for any of these initiatives:

Programs:

‘Know What’s Up’ Youth Concerts:
Program Fundraising Goal is $25,000 Year; $3,000 Each Concert

Concerts are held six times a year; each reaches 100-150 youth. Themes are all social-justice related. Topics are important to health, behaviors, self-esteem, social value, education. Outcomes: Youth are more connected to each other and learn responsible behaviors.

Chelsea River Revel:
Program Fundraising Goal is $20,000 for 2009
This is held the third Saturday of June each year. 1,500+ people attend a day long event which closes the Meridian Street Bridge. It features musicians, climbing wall, canoe rides, road race, multicultural food, activities, environmental booths, children’s activities. Goal is to focus on the value of the Chelsea River and increasingly its connection to the Mystic River Watershed. Donations would help pay for staff, vendors, food, rental of childrens entertainment, including a rock-climbing wall and more, police details, etc.

E3C Youth Internships:
Program Fundraising Goal is $18,000 Year; $3,000 per Intern
Six high school-aged youth work on environmental justice activities throughout the year for about twelve hours per week. Activities include: water sample testing, interviewing adults for surveys, mentoring younger children, managing a community garden, speaking at fairs, attending community meetings, especially concerning the Chelsea Creek. Youth learn all about East Boston open space and environmental matters and community organizing.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL):
Program Fundraising Goal is $12,000

This program has six modules throughout the year. Classes of 8-16 adults run four nights a week at NOAH. There is also a spoken English language practice session on Saturday mornings. Teachers receive stipends for their work. We are requesting funds to pay instructors, as well as to support individual students. Attendees progress from elementary or little or no English skills to functional written and verbal proficiencies.

Youth Soccer:
Program Fundraising Goal is $4,000
This is a new program for youth. Equipment needs include soccer balls and jerseys/uniforms/tee-shirts. Funding would help provide coaches, travel costs, referees, staff, and more. NOAH has formed a new league, manages the schedule, recruit participants, and educates all the young players. This program is bilingual and for both boys and girls. Children ages 8-18 participate.

Functional Art:
Program Fundraising Goal is $10,000
NOAH has built in or works with artists on all of the community projects. Sponsor a bench at the Urban Wild. Help pay for the new art installation at Our Garden. NOAH is specifically looking for donations to create a perpetual maintenance fund for the Our Garden site.

O’Donnell Schoolyard Summer Program:
Program Fundraising Goal is $40,000

This five day, seven week summer youth day camp is held at one of the re-designed elementary schoolyards that NOAH has helped transform. Over 50-80 young people attend daily. They are supervised by three stipended Teachers' Aides from the O'Donnell Schoolyard. Two healthy meals are provided daily to each child. If possible, parents are asked to donate a nominal amount of $10 or $20 per child each week, to help defray the cost of the program; but NOAH needs scholarship money to supplement these donations. You can send a child to summer camp for who otherwise would not be able to go.

Foreclosure Prevention & Homebuyer Services
Fundraising Goal is $50,000
Funding is needed to help families in need work to save their homes. There are cutbacks at the State level which limit our ability to hire and retain quality staff. NOAH counselors are highly regarded and extensively trained. Foreclosure prevention and mitigation work takes enormous amounts of time. It must also comply with Congressional and State regulations. Help a family stay in their home by making a donation to this program.

Senior & Disabled Homeowner Services:
Fundraising Goal is $20,000; $250 per client
Reductions in Boston’s CDBG funding award have forced cutbacks to this highly regarded program which makes 130 safety related repairs to elder and disabled homeowners each year. Funds will be used to help restore our materials budget in order to purchase needed items for very low-income senior or disabled clients. These include doors, locks, windows, handicapped grab bars, electrical and plumbing fixtures, hot water heaters, and other emergency repair items. Your gift can help a senior citizen stay in their home.

Real Estate:
Funraising Goal is $65,000
NOAH has a successful and growing East Boston and suburban acquisition and development program. We now own or have site-control over properties in Holliston, North Andover, Carlisle, Beverly and Everett. We have other prospects in the region. We also have dozens of foreclosed properties we are pursuing in East Boston. NOAH’s suburban work fills a void for non-profit developers working in collaboration with towns and cities in the region which do not have development capacity and need a trustworthy, community-minded partner. In a short period of time, NOAH’s approach has proven to work. The foreclosure crisis is leaving holes in our home neighborhood. With proper funding, we can acquire, rehab, rent or sell to homebuyers. NOAH needs quality staff to help with these multiple acquisitions

NOAH is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization;
All donations are generally tax-deductible.
