The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offers a comprehensive list of Common Questions from First-time Homebuyers.
A few of these questions include the following:
- Why should I buy, instead of rent?
How do I find a lender?
- I've had bad credit, and I don't have much for a down-payment. Can I become a homebuyer?
- I'm a single mother. How would I go about buying a home?
- Should I use a real estate broker? How do I find one?
- How much money will I have to come up with to buy a home?
Please access the HUD Website for answers to the above and other questions.
Foreclosure Prevention Program
Foreclosure Prevention Clinic: This is an opportunity to meet with our counselors, explain your situation, and have an assessment done of what can be accomplished. Some of the solutions we can help you with are the following: Refinance, Loan Modification, Short Sales, Deed in Lieu, Bankruptcy and Relocation. You only need to bring your mortgage bill and any letter you have received lately from your lender. If it is easy for you to bring your last two years of tax returns with a pay stub you can bring them as well. These are typically held on Monday evenings. If you need more information, please call Carlos Cespedes at 617-418-8260 or ccespedes@noahcdc.org.
